Secretly, Greatly gave me all the emotions. My mostly Korean audience laughed and laughed until the cried and cried. Fortunately I was not the only non-Korean there who didn’t get all the jokes. Definitely a Korean movie. It’s nice to view a film and have no idea where it’s going. Or more accurately, go to places that you did not expect.
I had a general idea of how things would likely unfold but then the movie takes a different turn. Refreshing. The hand to hand combat was choreographed so well and shot so well that Hollywood filmmakers should take note. Seriously impressive stuff. Strong performance by leads and supporting cast.
Also there’s a specific moment that only a Chicago audience would find highly amusing. And they laughed loudly. Definitely a film I’d watch again.
