I’d been skipping Nightmares via Instawatch b/c I thought it was a movie I already owned. And after this viewing I do in fact own this as STAGE FRIGHT, a DVD I bought some time ago. Ah well, not the first time I’ve watched something on NWI that I’ve owned.
Film tries really hard at being a giallo. Really hard. But in the end, it’s really just a formula American slasher made in Australia. Not a bad thing but never really sticks the landing for either. The killer is essentially introduced with the setup so no mystery there despite the movie attempting to hide this fact the entire time. The slasher aspect is okay but the real motivation behind the killings and these in particular is never fully realized. Outside of the killer just being fucked up in the head.
Decent and one I’d watch again since I have the DVD. ;)
