Viewing Notes

Another Asian Crush/CREi title on Amazon. Had high expectations going in based on the description and ratings. Sadly it’s not all that. Not that this is a bad movie because it’s not. But it’s not an “action-packed sci-fi thriller” as billed. Rather this is a slow burn sci-fi drama with a couple of bursts of action.

Most of the movie is centered around the leading man’s grief over his wife’s death and coming to terms with this new young woman who mysteriously has obtained his wife’s memory. The young woman Hiyori is a product of a science experiment that gives her super strength and skills beyond the extra memory. Played by Mami Yamasaki, she kicks ass. But there is less of that and more of the afore mentioned drama. Not a bad thing just good to know going into this.

The final sequence is rather outstanding and makes you wish there was more of that as Mami Yamasaki clearly has skills. Overall this is a good flick albeit a bit depressing. The end leaves open a sequel possibility but that’s probably never going to happen.
