In 1974, Chilean-French director Alejandro Jodorowsky embarked on the quixotic project of adapting Frank Herbert’s influential novel Dune (1969) for the big screen. After investing two years, and millions of dollars, the gigantic project ended in failure; but the artists Jodorowsky brought together to carry it out continued to work together, and ended up laying the foundations for modern science fiction cinema.

Twelfth film of my FF2013 and fourth on Day 3. Also my favorite film of the festival. Probably the #1 movie on my to-see list having followed this project for the last couple of years. To see it fully realized brought the tears. Not just a movie for Jodo fans but for all lovers of art, music and cinema. If you create then you need to see this movie. So touching and beautiful to see Jodorowsky’s passion and how much his collaboration with the others influenced subsequent films.
I love this movie and can’t stop thinking about it. To think that each film today got better than the previous movie seen which is an incredible feat at Fantastic Fest.
