Viewing Notes
First screening today, the last day of the Chicago Horror Film Festival. I’m mixed on this one because I generally like the revenge story of the weird guy who is constantly bullied by his classmates. But the piling on of the bullying is way overdone to the point of unbelievability. Then there are some wild plot points that make zero sense.
The flashback scene about the supposed origin of Mister White never feel connected. And those scenes don’t work either because plantation slaves wouldn’t look the way they are portrayed here. Easy to see all the shortcuts as well. However, I do like the killer who appears as an oversized member of Slipknot. Also like that this was written and directed by a woman. Just didn’t work for me in the end. Not terrible for a independent feature.
