Viewing Notes

Part of my highest rated Flickchart project. Surprised this is rated as highly as it is there yet not in the top 250 at IMDb. Usually I don’t care much for the lives and pettiness of the upper class but this is very entertaining and well shot by Renoir. With so many characters to juggle he’s done a great job of establishing each one and making believable interactions.

The hunting scene is disturbing as they really are hunting. Can’t recall the last time I saw that many animals (in this case, rabbits and game) killed onscreen. It’s a prolonged segment with multiple takes of all these bourgeois folks shooting likely to further emphasize how ridiculous the upper class really are.
