Viewing Notes

Such an odd narrative but also a lovely tribute to Akira Kurosawa and Sugata Sanshiro. Not the best Johnnie To film with its unconventional storyline but also very much To in its stylish depiction of three people coming together and forming a bond. What I love besides the beautiful photography is the lack of exposition. Everything must be gained from the characters to fill in the blanks and backstory.

Beautiful film and yet so simple. Louis Koo, Cherrie Ying and Aaron Kwok are marvelous in the midst of unsavory characters that surround them. I’d consider getting this one on Blu.
