Viewing Notes

a.k.a. Marquis de Sade: Justine.

Rather dry even for Franco. The book is way more salacious and really hammers home the sheer brutality that Justine endures. The movie really never goes that far depicting Justine as an average girl that makes due with a few brushes of bad luck. Never once does this film make the viewer really empathize for her as each situation doesn’t seem that bad. Overall it’s rather dull considering the source material. Watchable but so long it’s probably not worth the viewing except for Franco fans or de Sade enthusiasts.
