Maybe my favorite of the year so far. More later.
Even several hours later I am still processing. So much to absorb and understand although the movie works in its most basic story if everything else is stripped away. Maybe that’s what I love the most; a deeper method of conveying human nature through the eyes and behavior of an alien.
I’m so glad I knew nothing about this movie going into it. Even the trailer I pretty much ignored. Definitely my favorite new movie of 2014 and the one I most want to revisit. I hope I get that chance since my viewing wasn’t exactly optimal (Village Crossing is a subpar AMC theater and attracts the wrong kind of audience; had groups of people talking throughout the entire film, which is always annoying but supremely annoying in this case if you’ve seen the film, i.e. plenty of dead silent moments).
Honestly one of the most captivating movies I’ve seen.
