Really, really like the character moments. Not crazy about the execution of this particular story, one of the best ever in the X-men comics history (after the Dark Phoenix Saga). Time travel is such a sticky wicket in the movies and here is no exception. At least it makes for a convenient way to clean up some of the shoddy storytelling in the other films esp. X3 and Origins.
It’s also the odd the X-film where Wolverine is a centerpiece character and yet really doesn’t do anything. All the best moments are taken by the others around him. Even a surprise sequence by Quicksilver is a show stopper.
The subtitle could have easily been The Rise of Magneto. He’s such an unstoppable force that when he is stopped it really is a surprise. Also wonder how he was captured and imprisoned in the first place without the help of Xavier. So many questions.
I do love that so many of the previous X-characters were included even if many didn’t get much screentime. But how everything resolves here I wonder what they will do next and which characters would return. Odd that Anna Paquin is so highly billed in the final credits with only a brief cameo appearance. Wonder how many scenes were cut.
I really love Warpath and Blink. And Ellen Page even if they altered Kitty Pryde’s character to have those powers.
