Viewing Notes

Another Keita Amemiya flick (2nd from the 3-pack I picked up from the library). Wild genre blend set in ancient Japan with an alien race tracking down a lost sphere that may contain a super power. Not a great film but kept my attention and is never boring as it moves along. Helps having Hiroshi Abe as one of the leads. Amemiya favorite Yuko Moriyama is also here cast as each of the aliens, which is pretty cool. She’s an all around badass.

Plays like a live action manga and may be more convincing in that format than here (or anime for that matter). The practical mixed with mid-90s digital isn’t that bad just very apparent. Such a wild mashup I suppose it’s aimed at the same crowd like would watch anime I guess.
