Viewing Notes

Been several years, maybe 10+, since I’ve seen this. Remembered the elemental fights but forgot how damn dopey the plot is. I probably enjoyed this more when I first saw it. Now I mainly enjoy the excellent form fighting. The story, however, is lacking. Really bugs me how such skilled fighters can be so dumb repeatedly. I get that it’s to serve the story but ugh I can’t buy it (here I’m mostly referring to the Kunoichi so easily infiltrating the Martial Arts Alliance).

Also the soundstage looks pretty ridiculous. Another silly sequence is the water ninja fight. Really don’t believe those fighters would so easily overlook that underwater reed strategy. Fortunately most of the action is great and Lo Meng is awesome as usual. Lots of really great stuff speckled within a ramshackle story.
