One I knew would be in the Childhood Movie Project. Probably haven’t seen this movie beginning to end since I saw it in the theater when it was released. Talk about a total wish fulfillment flick for a 14 year old boy. I thinking we snuck into this flick at the Showcase Cinemas (the only multiplex in our area where it was easy to do that).
I’ve seen parts of it over the years, most of the memorable sequences for sure. Crazy to see baby Tom Cruise before he really broke big. In the extras they discuss this and how he was cast. The early screen tests with Rebecca are fascinating. Also appears that Tom had his front teeth fixed before they went into production.
The story remains rather unbelievable esp. the final sequence as Joel has to get the furniture back and in the house AS HIS PARENTS ARE IN A TAXI ON THEIR WAY HOME FROM THE AIRPORT. Sorry, can’t buy that. But this is a fun movie made better by being shot on location in Chicago and the north lakeshore burbs, Highland Park in particular. Totally forgot Joey Pants was in this as the pimp!
Also listened to some of the commentary with Cruise, which is pretty great that he participating in that.
