Viewing Notes

Talk about a way to make the game GO riveting. Damn. Even the plot synopsis doesn’t describe intensity and brutality around this murder revenge high stakes gameplay around Go. My only regret is not knowing more about the general rules of the game to understand the strategy and tactics employed. My interest is definitely piqued as now I what to learn the game.

I imagine that the Korean audience for whom this is intended would find this movie even more fascinating. Especially if they get the principles around the game. The great thing about this film is that no knowledge of the game is necessary to enjoy or appreciate the level of skill on exhibit.

How the plot develops does requires some suspension of belief but it’s not a distraction. The variety of characters benefits the story. Each has unique traits and quirks that allows them to stand out even in supporting roles. Overall the film is much better than I expected and very entertaining. I give a half star bump taking what could’ve been a dry premise and making it exciting.
