Had this DVD forever (think I bought it used for cheap from BBV sans the cover then created my own insert way back in the day). Can’t believe it took me this long to finally view it. It’s mostly a buddy cop drama with a major conflict with the Triad. Great stuff from Anthony Wong. The final sequence is completely insane. I don’t think it’s humanly possible to endure that much punishment and continue fighting. But it’s Anthony Wong.
Kathy Chau is also great as Yo Yo, the hooker with the heart of gold. She reminds me a lot of Sammi Cheng, who also would’ve been great in that role. Michael Fitzgerald Wong is pretty good as the straight-laced fish out of water partner teamed up with Anthony Wong. Together and separate they have some really nice scenes.
A lot of this is really by the numbers hitting all the expected beats but credit goes to the actors for making it all fresh and exciting.
