Well produced and good looking look at zombies in film and video games and pop culture. Highlights all the things you would expect if you’re familiar with this subgenre, which is also the downside to this doc; most of the material is territory covered ad nauseam. I suppose if one is not that familiar with the zombie lineage particularly from film, then this is a good film to watch. For me, this isn’t giving me much that I didn’t already know. Not a bad thing but it would good to see a deeper dive in the more obscure aspects including films that are often overlooked.
I think I’m done hearing about NOTLD, SOTD, TWD, ROTLD, 28DL, infected vs dead, fast zombie vs slow zombie, etc.
Heard mixed reactions out of SXSW so I didn’t regret missing this at SFF opening night. However, this is a slick production with excellent interview subjects and film clips. The best thing really is this doesn’t look cheap. Decent watch for the effort in the production and interview subjects.
