For a movie about a young lesbian couple surrounded by other gay characters I kept expecting the other shoe to drop. Fortunately I did not happen. The characters deal with coming out issues but this isn’t a film about homophobia or even touches on (except for one small scene where other students are overhead talking). That’s refreshing. This is just about the lives and loves and relationships.
This plays more like the day in the life of these characters with almost no conflict until two thirds into the movie. Maybe because of that this film is a little weak. Until that conflict between the primary couple occurs everything is just peachy and warm. It’s never boring but just doesn’t have any peaks until the end.
Noodles provide the soundtrack which is great. I saw them performance years ago and equated them to a Japanese version of The Breeders.
