Viewing Notes

Prequel or sequel? Both perhaps. It’s been so long since I read the graphic novels but I think this is a mashup of the stories, events that happened before and after the previous film. Or maybe this is a true sequel. Either way this feels like a step down from that film. Lacks the punch and emotional investment in the characters.

I still enjoy how the film looks even if the novelty has worn off. However, most of the characters here don’t have a lot to do. Eva Green is a clear standout. Brolin is fine. I do like JGL’s character but his story is terrible. Overall the movie feels lazy and uninspired like they made it for the sake of making it.

Still not as bad as many have made it out to be. Definitely corny at times. It did make me want to revisit the first film which I hope to do soon.
