Overview
Nerdcore Rising is a documentary/concert film starring MC Frontalot and other nerdcore hip hop artists such as mc chris, Wheelie Cyberman of Optimus Rhyme and MC Lars, with contributors from such as “Weird Al” Yankovic, Prince Paul and Brian Posehn. It combines interviews about nerdcore and its origins with footage of MC Frontalot’s 2006 Nerdcore Rising national tour.

Viewing Notes
This screened at my very first Fantastic Fest in 2010. I didn’t see it then because it didn’t seem that interesting to me. Since it was expiring on Instawatch I gave it a spin. Not bad but definitely one of those docs that is probably vastly better if you have an interest in the material, i.e. doesn’t elevate above the subject matter. Since I’m not really into the this subgenre of music it’s only mildly interesting. Doesn’t seem like a strong entry for FF but maybe a lot of people were into it?
