Viewing Notes
Was happy to catch another Oshima film in 35mm at Film Center (so many I have missed this month due to schedule conflicts). Despite owning on Criterion I hadn’t seen it so this was a good opportunity to see it on the big screen. Did not realize this was a horror movie! Double bonus as it works for my 31 in 31 horror challenge for the month.
Pretty cool ghost story that reminds me a lot of Ugetsu with a slightly different and more salacious spin. Very much a companion film to Oshima’s In the Realm of the Senses. I particularly love the angles he uses to instill dread. I look forward to viewing both of these movies again.
