Overview

Yataro Tanigawa, a one-eyed hired assassin, impresses yakuza boss Gomyo Kiyoemon with his skill. Gomyo hires Tanigawa as his bodyguard, or yojimbo, to protect him during an inter-clan conflict. Tanigawa quickly rises in stature in the clan, but finds his boss’s enemies almost overwhelming.

I’d love to have a nice release of this movie with better subtitles and a clear, widescreen presentation. There is a lot going on between the characters making it a challenge to understand exactly what is going on. Still not certain how the ronin’s backstory works as the main thrust of the plot. Still a very good movie loaded with great actors.
