Viewing Notes

Really dig the neo noir stylings with Las Vegas as the backdrop. Almost would prefer to see this in black and white to punctuate the style. Characters, dialogue, motivations all have it. Of course the hyper-violence is like a jolt but it brings a welcome flare of intensity into the otherwise man without a purpose storyline. It’s like a weird jigsaw puzzle of unmatched pieces that somehow come together for a appealing portrait of this man that knows what he wants yet foils himself from getting it.

I really like Statham in this. Rather shocked that Milo Ventimiglia hulked up. Like seriously put on the muscles. So weird to see. Tucci walks on as Tucci for a minor but rewarding role. Didn’t even realize that was Ann Heche. She’s great too. All the bit parts are fun. Also a non-traditional Christmas movie to add to the list.
