WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN THIS MOVIE.
Seriously.
Having seen so many old school kung fu movies recently I nearly forgot they made movies like this in the 90s. Super fantasy wuxia wire-fu hyper-edited action garble. I think there’s a story in there somewhere. Unfortunate considering the stellar cast (back when Donnie Yen was a legitimate third wheel heel).
Had this DVD for a while but kinda hilarious that Well Go USA picked up the title and remarketed it with slick packaging putting Yen and Michelle Yeoh on the cover. I recall seeing this at Walmart as a “new” release. Held off viewing it because I did think it was a newer title. Only recently determined it was an early 90s release. And the print looks like one. Definitely very little or no clean up on the print. Looks just like those Tai Seng or Universe Laser DVDs I imported back in the day.
Still watchable for this cast esp. Tony Leung Chiu-Wai in the lead. I also like Joey Wong here. Good luck trying to follow what’s going on.
