Journey of the Doomed stars Tung Wei as a knight that finds himself protecting the life of a beautiful young lady being stalked by a bunch of assassins headed by kung-fu actress extraordinaire Hui Ying-hung. Tung Wei was the kid that Bruce Lee slaps on the head at the beginning of Enter The Dragon. He went on to kung-fu stardom before becoming a highly successful fight director for Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

Terrible. It’s like a 70s exploitation flick through the lens of 80s slapstick adventure movies (ex. Romancing the Stone). Maybe the Shaw Brothers were just throwing anything out there to see what stuck. This might be the worst film I’ve seen under their production. I could get past the early unnecessary titillation sequences when Kara Hui shows up as a bad ass assassin. But her appearance is short lived and we’re left with characters that deserve no sympathy.
The final sequence where everything is blown up while this young couple races towards their doom says more about the Shaw Brothers at the time. Terrible.
The last official Shaw Production which is evident.
