Oof. Not a good movie. Watchable but not for the story. It’s the cast in the case led by Sam Rockwell, who is fun but not given enough to do. It’s like a shell of the original story but lacks the soul. Just too goofy to be worthwhile or possess any substance. Also I guess we’re gonna have to get used to seeing drones as a common plot device in more movies. And I’m already tired of drones. Such a lazy device.
Not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed that this movie is set in my hometown. Or near my hometown. Probably Rock Island or East Moline since Rockwell says “Yeah over in Moline” intimating that the family isn’t living there but nearby. Initially guessed Bettendorf since a lot of John Deere employees do live across the river but all the license plates are Illinois.
