Looks like my kind of dumb. “promoted as an action-packed Christian historical thriller”
The religious slant isn’t quite as strong as I expected once I knew what I was getting into. Still plenty of heavy handed God talk but not distractingly so. However, given the praise I read for the action and thrills, this movie is lacking with significantly more drama.
A couple of action setpieces are decent especially the night chase which really plays more like Assassin’s Creed. In fact if this movie had more that it could have been so much better. That’s what I thought it would be instead of the rather bland result. I like both leads but a missed opportunity not giving them much to do when they are together. Really thought they were gonna give Kara Killmer’s character a Marion Ravenwood turn but nope!
The fantastical finale is right out of an Asylum flick and feels so out of place compared to the rest of the movie. I do like how it plays around with US history but so dopey! It is pretty hilarious that they set up a sequel which I can’t see happening.
