Soska Twins directed flick set in Chicago (filmed in Canada). Doesn’t cover new ground in the prison thriller subgenre with all the tropes you’d expect. Still good watch with good turns by Dean Cain and Big Show. I like that Dean Cain has a gritty edge playing against his usual “good guy” type. Definitely can see the Soska horror leanings through the violence depicted.
Not a film that needs to be seen in theater (nothing really cinematic here) but will be a fine viewing on NWI. I am happy this did get a limited theatrical release. At my AMC the masking wasn’t removed so the top portion of the screen was covered, which was annoying. I left to inform someone and I could see they were fooling with it during the screening but it was never fixed. I told the manager afterwards and she gave me a free pass.
