Viewing Notes

I was very skeptical given all the overwhelming praise for this movie. I was not keen on the first film and really was not up for more of that. Fortunately this isn’t that movie. Instead it’s a fun dance flick that just happens to feature male strippers. So many moments had me grinning ear to ear with glee. Some nice dialogue as well i.e. “It’s still your day.”

Probably the only blemish is the inclusion of Kevin Nash, who looks like a old pro-wrestler with bad knees. He stands out compared to the other guys and is so out of place. Even his routine is a joke.

Joe Manganiello is the real highlight here. He has the best routine and scene (the convenience store). Donald Glover is also pretty good in a small role. Most of the supporting roles are small yet play big parts like Elizabeth Banks, who is also great. Michael Strahan is another surprise.

I’d definitely watch this again whereas I’d probably never revisit the first film.
