Viewing Notes
Another DVD I picked up at G-FEST for $4.28 and one I’ve wanted to see. Stars Ha Kwong-Li as the woman who is trained by an older woman Tai Yee-Ha to seek revenge. Also my second Lee Tso-Nam film today!
Watching this makes me think there was a real missed opportunity to put all these 70s badass women in a film together and create a female Venoms troupe. Chia Ling (Judy Lee), Polly Kwan, Angela Mao, Kara Hui, etc. I know it couldn’t have happened for most of them because of the imposed studio system and HK vs Taiwan film industries. However, there were enough badass women back then an attempt should have been made to get a few together.
I’d love see a female camaraderie established over a series of movies like we see in all the Venom films rather than either in supporting roles or the lone woman avenger like this.
This movie also features some of the best training sequences. I gotta think Tarantino didn’t see this movie because so many cool things he could’ve stolen here.
