Viewing Notes

A David Lean film I hadn’t seen and knew nothing about other than Katherine Hepburn was the primary star. Quite a poignant yet warm movie about loneliness, the desire to be wanted and share an experience against core beliefs.

At first I was taken aback with how this is shot making an exquisite on location film in Italy look so small and quaint. However, that’s perfect for how this story develops. It really is a movie about giving in to intimacy that requires a not so grand scope amid the beautiful surrounds of Venice.

Hepburn’s dilemma resonates more than I wanted to; growing old and being alone yet looking for adventure and an escape to forget it all… yeah I can relate.
