A serious missed opportunity to do something very interesting within the mythology of this world and story. It’s more like 4 or 5 different short films sewn together each with its own beat not quite gelling with the other chapters. It lacks identity and doesn’t know what kind of movie it wants to be. The “monsters” serve merely as a background device rather than driving the crux of the story. Which I suppose could be said about the brilliant first movie but in case the plight of the soldiers is cliched and uninteresting. Also the movie is at least 20 minutes too long. Very disappointing.
