Quite an odd little film. Not a particularly great film but watchable whenever it shows up on NWI. I like the story (co-written by my friend Steven Scarlatta) but it’s oddly crafted. Like all the pieces for a conventional narrative of this type were mixed up and reassembled into something different. In many ways it’s like one of those formulaic teen thrillers from the late 90s/early ‘00s but done out of order.
My biggest issue is with Abigail Bresslin in the lead. She’s perfectly capable here however she doesn’t look the part, i.e. a young woman or teen that’s been training all her life to kick the shit out of men. She just looks soft and doesn’t seem *that* skilled despite daily training since she was a young child. Also the girlfriend Jennifer does not look close to being 17 years old.
Again not very good but worth a look.
