In this continuation of “Family”, it is discovered that the one who gave the order to assassinate the Mitsumikai Boss is the one and only Boss of the Japan Mafia: Mr. Nishiwaki. Hideshi finds something odd about the killing and begins to investigate, uncovering the true motives behind this murder. Viewing Notes
I probably should have watched the first installment before this sequel. Would’ve understand the central motivation of the “family” better. I ordered the set from Amazon since the first FAMILY movie isn’t available on Netflix.
Definitely has all the early Miike flourishes you’d expect including yakuza with tank! The voice over narration is a cheat to move the story along and essentially compress a greater arc. Not a bad thing here as it keeps the pacing relatively brisk.
I’ll revisit after I’ve watched the first movie to get a better understanding of the main plot.
