FF Day 7: Movie 6, midnight movie!
Horror anthology split among 3 directors including Jörg Buttgereit of Nekromantik fame. There’s no connective tissue here other than the pure desire to instill dread, which is what they discussed during the Q&A at Fantastic Fest. Each story stands on its own with Buttgereit’s “Final Girl” being the most interesting and original of the pack, which involves a girl and her guinea pig. The other two are overly familiar tales (“Make a Wish” about swapping bodies and “Alraune” deals in seduction and the price one is willing to pay for pleasure). Decent overall just needed more spice between the violence and blood.
