Viewing Notes

Allow me to share a tale of a fucked up screening that caused me to miss the final 30 minutes of this movie. Went to Century Cinemark in Evanston to see this since it had already exited most theaters and the timing was ideal to see this movie right before FANTASIA - 75th Anniversary presentation. Everything was fine until about 15 minutes into the film when the sound got all muffled. It was like a heavy blanket was placed over the main speakers.

A man left to inform the staff but returned shaking his head. Finally a staff woman came in to say they were working on fixing the sound. All this while the movie is still screening. During this period, the sound would off completely and sometimes the film would just pause. After about 30 minutes the sound was fixed. The staff said we would all get raincheck cards for a free movie. (the man who originally left had already walked out with his wife never to return)

So I was cool with all this as shit happens. Not ideal but I was okay with just being able to finish the movie with its audio restored. However, an older woman kept audibly complaining they should start the movie over. The manager said that wasn’t feasible b/c they have to stay on schedule. Of course the old bat got up and raised hell—keep in mind the movie is still playing—and finally the manager gave in and THEY RESTARTED THE MOVIE FROM THE BEGINNING. This after it was 37minutes into the film. I checked.

So I watched up until 9 minutes after the showtime for FANTASIA then walked out and into the next door theater for that (lucked out that it was in the next theater). Just in time as FANTASIA had just started.

So I missed the last 30 minutes of STEVE JOBS and I’ve been trying to figure out how I might be able to see those 30 minutes of what is a really good movie with the expected laser sharp dialogue from Sorkin. I’d watch this again anyways because all the acting is so strong esp. Fassbender and Winslet.

Still pissed at that lady for forcing the theater to restart the damn movie.
