First time!
This falls into that category of movies that I was very aware of when I was a child yet really had no interest in seeing. I believe this was on HBO all the time but never watched a minute of it.
Fast forward 37 years and this is now something I really wanted to see. A tad surprised it took me this long but at least I had the opportunity to view it on the big screen in a restored 4K DCP at Muvico. It’s such a wild movie semi-autobiographical for Bob Fosse, which I did not realize.
Roy Scheider is the reason to see this. He’s committed to this role and is insanely great as the womanizing, chain-smoking, and drug addicted stage director. Even as exhausted I was I was completely mesmerized by his performance.
