Heard this was slow with little payoff to which the latter I can agree with. The “slowness” of this is more patterned from modern Japanese horror. Or at least late 90s/early 00s J-horror, which I actually appreciate. The first hour works in this method and I was into it. The final third, however, leans towards more western horror standards and falls flat. Doesn’t help that this is yet another story about the suicide forest in Japan which has been addressed plenty of times in film. It’s just not interesting as a premise any longer.
