Overview

In a seaside California town, best friends Mac and Nick are on opposite sides of the law. Mac is a former drug dealer trying to clean up his act, while Nick is a high-profile detective trying to take down a Mexican drug lord named Carlos. Soon Nick’s loyalties are put to the test when he begins an affair with restaurateur Jo Ann —a love interest of Mac’s—unwittingly leading his friend into a police-orchestrated trap.

Viewing Notes

Have never seen this. And it was on HBO all the time.

This is a great example of how having superior actors can elevate the material. The story is a yawner. It’s almost like they knew these actors would carry the featherweight screenplay. Had there been more punch and weight in that story this could have been an all-timer. Instead it’s just crazy good Gibson, Russell and Pfeiffer with a little Raul Julia on the side.

Not sure Michelle Pfeiffer has looked hotter. Super sultry. Her and Russell are so great here. Gibson is Gibson.
