The Hollywood version of the popular video game series “Wing Commander”. Unlike other video games to feature film transitions, series creator Chris Roberts was heavily involved in the film’s creation. This is the story of Christopher Blair and Todd “Maniac” Marshall as they arrive at the Tiger Claw and are soon forced to stop a Kilrathi fleet heading towards Earth.

For my 90s Rewatch Project. Originally saw this opening weekend in Milwaukee at a tiny theater near my apartment. I totally dug it as a B-movie. Since then this movie has this reputation as a terrible movie so I’ve always wanted to revisit but finally doing it 17 years later. Yeah, it’s not great and often cheesy but I still dig it. I like the CG FX which are still better than a lot of movies released today (looking at you The Asylum and SyFy Channel).
I also marvel at the list of B-actors assembled here. Tchéky Karyo, Jürgen Prochnow and David Warner?! Hell yes. And I don’t mind Freddie Prinze Jr. or Matthew Lillard in this (both at the zenith of their careers).
If this somehow got a rep screening I would totally go.
