Viewing Notes

I don’t think I’ve seen this in its entirety so this is like a first time viewing for me and in 70mm!

Yep, definitely have not seen this movie before tonight. It was on my childhood movies list but won’t count for that reason. It’s just been one of those movies that I always thought I had seen because it seems that way from the numerous clips I’ve seen over the years.

The movie is so damn good. Sure, it has cheesy moments but the overarching story is great and still resonates today. In fact this movie could be exactly the same today and the message would still apply. Bridges is so good in this character and Karen Allen is terrific as well. She exudes that raw beauty not often seen in leading ladies. It’s like you want to stare into her eyes forever.

I love that Carpenter made this film after Christine and just before Big Trouble. I believe his run in the 80s is nearly unmatched. So glad to finally see this movie and experience it in blown up 70mm. That print was pristine. I don’t think that movie could look any better.
