Viewing Notes

First time!

A movie that defines “epic” in the sheer scope of the production and length. Viewing this in theater, esp for the first time, is probably the best way to experience this. One of the main reasons I’ve held off from viewing this is the length but in theater it moves along and there’s no distractions.

Lots to absorb here but immediate observations include: Liz Taylor is stunning throughout, love her throat scar (which I had never noticed before), she changes her wardrobe/outfit in every new scene, Martin Landau is the MVP here, the parallels with ancient Roman conquest with modern US control over the world.

Main takeaway for me was renewing my interest in this time period and ancient history in general.
