Viewing Notes

I had this down for my 90s Revisit Project but I haven’t seen this. Always thought I had but nope. I really like Seagal’s role. Outside of Kurt Russell I didn’t know about the others in this cast but it’s a solid cast for a mid-90s flick. We almost saw this in theater when I tagged along as a third wheel with my brother and his date. Instead we went to see the remake of Diabolique. I dug that movie but I think we should’ve gone to see this instead.

This really is the epitome of thriller. Almost non-stop intensity and tension once the mission team boards the plane. Some great sequences make it effective. I love that John Leguizamo has such a big role here as well as BD Wong. Throw in Halle Berry and Joe Morton to make for wonderfully diverse cast. Surprised this has a sub-7.0 rating at IMDb.

I’m still okay with the sacrifice Seagal’s character makes as it adds to the stakes but it would’ve been cool to see him on that plane with the others. But it serves a cool device to make the others step up.
