Viewing Notes

I’m shocked this is a 1999 movie. Because it’s soooooooo 90s in so many ways. Rewatching it now I totally get why so many love this movie… the generation of the 90s, those that likely graduated HS in the 90s. I likely saw this when I was living in my apartment in DP before moving to Logan Square. Or maybe I saw it in LS when I had that Blockbuster deal to get a couple of movies per day and was watching a ton of movies in a short period of time. And forgot most of them since they all blurred together after 30 days of doing it.

That was probably it since I barely remember this movie outside of the bet and the ugly duckling premise. Even then I thought it was dumb that anyone would think that Rachael Leigh Cook even all nerded up wasn’t super attractive. She’s probably the main reason to watch this but it’s also fun to see everyone here so young. Didn’t realize Paul Walker was in this; he looks odd as though he later had plastic surgery to refine his features. Only one scene does he really look like himself.

Overall a decent HS flick but nothing I’m nostalgic for thankfully.
