Viewing Notes

Back at Oakton for the Modern Language Film Festival. First time I’ve been invited when not being in class during the spring semester. My instructor Shuko chose this year’s film and picked another Hirokazu Koreeda flick. She picked his NOBODY KNOWS years ago.

Geez talk about getting depressed all over again. Koreeda directs a great film but his subject matter is so damn sad or tragic. They are the kind of film that is so high quality but not one I ever want to watch again.

I don’t have children but I cannot even imagine facing a situation like this. Wild how the audience expectations get subverted so early into this movie. I highly recommend this film but a damn tough watch. Hard to hold back the tears.
