Viewing Notes

Wanted to revisit this after seeing the live action film. Interesting that what works in animation doesn’t work in the live action movie namely the musical numbers and the comedy beats. Mowgli is better realized in animated form.

What this movie doesn’t do well compared to live action is set up the stakes and create genuine terror and fear. Shere Khan the Tiger isn’t even introduced until the final third of the movie here. The family concept with the wolf pack is non-existent here. This is really a family friendly animated feature you’d expect from Disney. it’s good for that but a very different movie than the 2016 version.
