Viewing Notes

This was last week’s #driveinmob movie. Added to my Vimeo watchlist so I could view via Roku app. Crazy Ringo Lam / Tsui Hark collaboration. I’m not even sure what the hell is going on in this movie other than there’s a Warlord and Fong Sai Yuk is trying to rescue his new girlfriend, Carmen Lee, from the evil Warlord. I suppose Fong Sai Yuk is also seeking revenge for the death of his master. And yet they rescue a master? See, it’s confusing af.

Some great fight sequences and super bloody at times. Not a great movie bc it’s so convoluted but it as that mid 90s HK greasy lens charm. Also Carmen Lee looks very similar to Maggie Cheung from that same time period.

I bet there’s a good story behind the making of this movie and not using any big name stars from that time. It’s as though all the money went to the sets instead of the actors.
