Viewing Notes

Very close to tagging this Cat3 flick “batshit” but it really only teeters on the line. Instead it’s mostly ho-hum weird action horror with a violent vampire demon the “Moon Monster” that somehow returns to kidnap and murder young women. Donnie Yen is sorta kinda the lead but only in the second half. All the lead women here are the best aspects of the movie. Always love seeing Sibelle Hu! Pauline Yeung also has some great moves.

This is on the cheapie DVD (4-films on 1) from Netflix and the first one that I don’t care if there’s a better home video format available bc this just isn’t a very good movie. However the worst thing is that the Cantonese audio is separated in two tracks that aren’t synced. So there is an echo which is very annoying to hear.

Actually upon reflection I believe this deserves a better release if it doesn’t already have one. Because every Donnie Yen movie deserves that much. And in fact this is pretty batshit esp. towards the end. It’s just super dopey with the Moon Monster but it’s kinda fun. Just wish Sibelle Hu had more screen time / character involvement.
