Felt like revisiting both PURGE movies before seeing the new ANARCHY sequel. Wasn’t crazy about this movie on release due to some minor annoyances. Still annoyed by them but easier to look past on this viewing in the greater context of the world building in the next installment. So I like the movie more on this go round and glad I watched again.
Overall I think my biggest issue to get past is the premise or accepting that this one night purge will fix all the bad things in society. Also doesn’t factor in how mental illness or terrorism or gang warfare plays into American crime.
All that notwithstanding I do like the social commentary of the haves and have nots.
