Viewing Notes

Finally watched this DVD I’ve had from Netflix since July, the longest I’ve had a DVD out. I actually watched half of this a few months ago and didn’t finish so I started from the beginning tonight. For a small, Taiwanese indie flick there’s a lot going on here. Probably too much to keep it coherent. The central romance is significant yet the other threads pull at it and take away some of its heat.

Both Rainie Yang and Isabella Leong are very good in these early roles in their career. It’s hard to believe that Rainie is in fact older than Isabella in real life given she’s playing a much younger girl to Isabella’s more mature character. Rainie even looks much younger. Their relationship is wonderful. And Isabella is distractingly beautiful with a classic look. I’m curious why she left acting in 2008 only to return 8 years in bit parts.

Their interviews in the extras are interesting as they discuss the acting classes they took to prepare them for the lesbian scenes. They are very convincing. Anyways this is nice story with warm portrayal of young love.
