Tang Monk brings three disciples on a journey to the West. On the outside, everything seems harmonious. However, tension is present beneath the surface, and their hearts and minds are not in agreement. After a series of demon-capturing events, the monk and his disciples gain mutual understanding of each others’ hardships and unease. Finally, they resolve their inner conflict and work together to become an all-conquering, demon-exorcising team.

Was happy to catch this in theater but unfortunately going directly from my office after work was not so good given my exhaustion. Enjoyed the movie (more than the previous Journey flick from Chow) but goddamn did I have a hard time keeping my eyes open. It was as if I had taken sleeping pills. Definitely will need to revisit under better conditions.
Overall everything that I wasn’t so keen on in the first film works better here (action, humor and FX). Nice to see Jelly Lin again. I’ll probably watch the movies back to back when this hits home video.
